Blu-Ray discs embedded onto the PS3 is a great introduction to many gamers who are interested in spending that kind of money to consider they have bought it for multi-purposes. Those consumers who buy the PS3 to mainly use it for the Blu-Ray drive may not necessarily be costing Sony money. First of all, by the concept of “supply & demand”, many have requested for the Sony PS3 causing the price of the Blu-Ray to come to a reasonable price has sparked many others to join the bandwagon. Thus allowing the costs of these devices at a mere ratio compared to an actual Stand-alone BR-Player. Because the technology is so new, there will be several complications, one especially due to overheating the Cell chip. Sony is highly aware of this and will further introduce the next model with a sufficient cooling system to keep it from crashing. Point of the matter is, Sony has developed a “selling” scheme to push out BR compatible PlayStation to upsell its units. Whether it be for the gaming purposes or for its alternate purpose. Also including the two model option really allows the user to select one for its main purpose! Just my $0.02.
