Film Studios to release 200 films on HD DVD
Following the announcement of the initial launch titles for Blu-ray disc, backers of rival high-definition DVD format, HD DVD, have responded by revealing that they will release nearly 200 films by the end of the year.

Some movies planned for launch on HD DVD
Toshiba CEO of the Digital Media Network Co., Yoshiihide Fujii, said that nearly 50 titles would be out on HD DVD by May.
“HD DVD is now playing… HD DVD delivers a quantum leap in how consumers view video,”
he said.
HD DVD film studio supporters Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios, Warner Home Video, HBO Video and New Line Home Entertainment together make up over half of the movies ever made.
Toshiba’s two HD DVD players, the HD-XA1 and HD-A1, priced at $499.99 and $799.99 respectively, will be available in stores by the end of March.
Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios have already released the movies that they plan to launch alongside the Toshiba players.
