The first Blu-ray and HD DVD players for US revealed
With the opening of the Consumer Electronics Show came the unveiling of the first Blu-ray players and HD DVD players to be released into the US market.
Two new Blu-ray players, the Samsung BD-1000 and Pioneer BDP-HD1, are scheduled to be released in the springtime. The cost of the two units is expected to be around $1000 and $1800 respectively.

Toshiba also announced that two HD DVD players would be hitting the shelves this year in March. The HD-XA1 will go on sale for $799.99 while the HD-A1 will be priced at $499.99.
Although there are currently no movies available on Blu-ray, Sony along with three other film studios have revealed their launch titles.

The CES is being held in Las Vegas, Nevada and is open until January 8.
